New Beijing air train
Beijing will soon offer new airport link. A fast transit rail link is under development to connect the city with its new airport. It is scheduled to be operational by 2019 and will be the fastest intra-city transit system in the country.
Pan Pacific opens Myanmar property
Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts has made its debut in Yangon with a newly built 5-star hotel. Floor to ceiling windows in the guest rooms offer stunning views of the city skyline, Shwedagon Pagoda and Yangon River.
Hertz adds hybrid
Hertz is expanding its Green Collection in Australia with the addition of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle). The vehicle will be piloted in Adelaide before being added to Canberra Airport’s fleet in the coming months. It is ideal for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint. Hertz has also installed charging stations at participating locations.
Plaza Premium LHR T5
London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 is now home to a new Plaza Premium Lounge. Access can be purchased for £40 (+/- $70) for two hours. The opening means that there are now Plaza Premium Lounges available in all Heathrow terminals.
Holiday Inn Express Bangkok
InterContinental Hotel Group has plans for a new property in Thailand’s capital. The 220-room Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Ratchada is due to open in 2020.
Hilton airport expansion
Hilton Hotels & Resorts is expanding presence in airport locations. Five new additions, which are all in North America, include the Hilton Nashville Airport, the H Hotel Los Angeles, Curio Collection by Hilton, the DoubleTree by Hilton Toronto Airport West, the DoubleTree by Hilton Toronto Airport and the DoubleTree by Hilton Boston Logan Airport Chelsea.
Peppers Brisbane now open
The FV by Peppers has opened in Brisbane. Located on Alfred Street in Fortitude Valley, the property features one- and two-bedroom apartments with full kitchens, laundries, lounge and dining areas and private balconies. Other facilities include a swimming pool, VIP private spa lounges, a gym and yoga retreat.
Marriott Suzhou x 2
Marriott International has opened two new hotels in China. Both located in the Suzhou Taihu National Tourism and Vacation Zone, they include the 275-room Suzhou Marriott Hotel Taihu Lake and the 224-room Renaissance Suzhou Taihu Lake Hotel. They are the and their first international hotel brands to open in the zone.
Emirates 777 debut
Emirates plans to launch its new B777-300ER first class product from 1 December. The first routes to benefit from the upgrades will be the Brussels and Geneva routes.
British Airways is investing in service improvements, including the introduction of “the best wi-fi in the sky”. It operations at London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 will also offer speedier boarding thanks to new biometric departure gates.
SQ ups Dusseldorf
Singapore Airlines is upping the frequency of its new Singapore-Dusseldorf route. The carrier will fly four times weekly on the route from 30 October 2018.
Moxy Japan debut
Marriott International has opened two new Moxy Hotels in Japan. The 205-room Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho and the 155-room Moxy Osaka Honmachi.
Le Meridien South Korea
The Le Meridien brand has made its debut in South Korea. The 336-room Le Meridien Seoul is located in the capital’s Gangnam district. It features a choice of dining venues, a fitness centre, simming pool and spa as well as meeting and event space for up to 800 guests.
