The Flight Centre Foundation today announced that for every Fiji holiday booked in March through Flight Centre stores or through Travel Club, Flight Centre (NZ) Ltd will donate $50NZD per person to support the recovery and rebuild after Cyclone Winston.
With Fiji forming such an integral part of New Zealanders holidays and being so close to home, we feel it is important to not only help with raising funds to support the recovery, but to also participate and help in the rebuild.
In addition to donating funds, the Foundation is calling on those who are travelling to Fiji in the next month to make space in their suitcase to take school supplies, clean clothing, books and blankets.
Ground Handler Destination Fiji will meet Flight Centre and Travel Club customers at the airport in Nadi and take the items for distribution to the most in need parts of the islands.
In further recognition of the Foundations commitment, Flight Centre (NZ) Ltd has pledged to do more than just donate.
Flight Centre Foundation Chairperson Jodie Burnard says, “we have teams of our Flight Centre staff up in Fiji during March, taking time off from work and family to volunteer with everything from painting schools to helping rebuild local communities, distribute the donated goods and generally help out where ever we can.”
All money raised by the Flight Centre Foundation will be distributed by the Red Cross Disaster Fund.
